Infant and Toddler
Getting your Montessori Infant and Toddler certification through the Rings of Knowledge program is not only a rewarding experience but we think you will find the whole program uniquely designed for your success by using the following:
integration of online learning and live weekly classes
demonstration of your competency using a variety of ways beginning your practicum as you complete the first course and most exciting being able to test as you go through each course
With all these components we have made it possible to complete the requirements in one year. The Full Certification program is affiliated with the independents not in a Consortium and is in good standing with MACTE*.
What Makes Rings of Knowledge Different?
We use a Flipped Classroom Model. A flipped classroom is where the adult learner listens to and watches a variety of multimedia presentations and then comes to an in-person class prepared to discuss and practice what they have learned while being supervised by an instructor. This allows us to dive deep into the practices of Dr. Montessori. The multimedia resources include videos of the Montessori lessons with children, podcasts, and videos of experts within their field of study. Everything you need to be successful is stored on an online platform. And the most exciting component is you get to choose how you demonstrate your competency on concepts from any of the following:
written paper
graphic presentation
video presentations
podcast
slideshow
Venn diagrams
Online Learning: This is completed at home on your own time. The online component is 40 hours. You should plan 5-10-hours per week, which can be scheduled at your own convenience, to view course video lectures and presentations, complete a variety of assignments, and come to class prepared to discuss concepts.
In Person Classes: The Infant and Toddler Program meets regularly once a week throughout the academic school year with a few weekends and a few intensive summer workshops. The in person face-to-face time is 160 hours. During this component of the infant and toddler program, the adult learner will complete the following courses:
Montessori Philosophy
Child Growth and development
Working with Families
Infant Environmental Design
Toddler Environmental Design
Leadership and communication
The Practicum: Students are required to complete 300 hours directly interacting with children and an addition 300 hours in direct classroom preparations in an approved Montessori Infant or Toddler classroom. Prior to starting a practicum, the environment must be checked by the director of the program. The environment must be prepared to meet the physical, emotional, and academic needs of the infant and toddler. The practicum begins after the first course is completed (usually by September) and the course assignments have been turned in and approved.
Certification Level: Rings of Knowledge Infant and Toddler Montessori Teaching Certification for teaching ages 0-3 years of age.
Length of Course: 12 months
